Program purpose

To develop knowledge, skills and judgment in mechanical engineering design, the production side of manufacturing and technical supervision.

Program

Mechanical Engineering Technology is a co-op diploma program with a September entry date.

The objective of the program is to prepare the graduate to work in the design and production of high-quality manufactured goods. The emphasis is on mechanical analysis and design, manufacturing methods, quality control, building systems design and control, supervision and management and computer applications. Several specialty options are available during the last academic term.

More detailed CAREER DESCRIPTIONS are linked here. For an idea of what kind of work our graduates do, visit our GRADUATES' PAGE.

You can find individual course descriptions on the central RRC web page under the alphabetical entry for Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Co-operative Education program

The 2 1/3 year MET Co-op Program  integrates two 4-month terms of related paid industrial work with five 4-month terms of in-college technical education. We expect student co-op wages to be between $10 and $14 per hour. The Co-op program will help students work their way through college and will provide them with credible experience in their profession before graduation. It will provide employers with new graduates who already know the ropes.
