Course Implementation and Evaluation is a 1-credit, 70-hour course for those in instructional roles related to Community Colleges, Vocational-Industrial-Business Education Teaching, and others working toward a Certificate in Adult Education.
Course Implementation and Evaluation explores methods of introducing or modifying courses so as to provide for maximum acceptance and achievement and minimum disruption and dissatisfaction. It will overview authentic assessment and its implications; explore the variety of means for determining how successful courses have been and examine theories and practices related to successful implementation and evaluation. In all cases, the goal is to improve teaching and learning.
Implementation will consider such areas as the process and conditions of change, the role of pre- and in-service training, the characteristics and functioning of innovators and innovations, the stages of concern, the levels of use of innovations, and the stages of innovation.
Evaluation will consider the foundations and processes of balanced evaluations; the many different means of assessing course outcomes in terms of their identity; use; limitations and strengths; with emphases on both product and process, all within as authentic, seamless, and thoughtful a context as possible.
Large- and small-group instruction, modeling, collaborative learning, group and individual critiquing, research, choice in mindful assignments, and metacognitive reflection will all be involved in the delivery of the course. |
